Community Guidelines

Noir exists because Black people deserve a dating app built for us, not one where we are an afterthought or a demographic filter. It is a space for Black love, connection, and community — built to feel like the best room at the function, not the wild west.
These guidelines keep it that way. By using Noir, you agree to all of them.
Be who you say you are
Your real name, recent photos, your real age. No catfishing, no impersonating anyone, no accounts run on someone else’s behalf. One account per person. If you want the verified badge, take the selfie — a person on our team reviews it.
Grown folks move with respect
Disagree, debate, talk your talk. But no harassment, bullying, name-calling pile-ons, or contacting someone who asked you to stop. If someone unmatches or blocks you, that conversation is over.
No hate. Period.
Racism, colorism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or hate of any kind gets you removed. That includes "jokes" that are really just hate with a laugh track. Colorism in particular has no home here.
Keep it classy with photos
No nudity or sexually explicit content — in profiles, rooms, or messages. Photos and videos are automatically screened before anyone can see them, and violations are rejected at upload. Repeat attempts get your account suspended.
No selling, no spam, no scams
Noir is not a marketplace. No promoting businesses, paid content, crypto plays, or MLMs. Never ask members for money, gifts, or "help." Payment handles and payment links do not belong in public profiles — social media usernames are fine, Cash App tags are not. Romance scams get an immediate permanent ban and, where appropriate, a report to law enforcement.
Protect people's privacy
No screenshots of profiles or conversations shared to embarrass someone. No posting anyone’s personal information — address, workplace, socials, legal name — without their consent. What happens in an anonymous room stays anonymous.
Adults only — 18+
You must be 18 or older. Age-gated rooms have their own limits, and your date of birth is locked at signup. The gates are real.
Report, don't retaliate
See something that breaks these rules? Use the report option on any profile, or long-press a message. Reports are reviewed by real moderators. False reports made to target someone are themselves a violation.
How moderation actually works
We think you deserve to know this, so we will be direct about it.
Automated systems screen photos and videos and can block them. That happens at upload, every time, and it is deliberate — nobody should have to see explicit or violent content before a human gets around to removing it.
For everything else, automation only recommends. Our systems may flag profile text or a room message for review. They cannot warn you, suspend you, restrict you, or ban you. Every enforcement action on Noir is taken by a person, and the record shows which person took it.
We built it that way on purpose. Automated moderation is confidently wrong often enough — especially about AAVE, slang, reclaimed language, and the ordinary way grown people flirt — that letting it act alone would punish members for talking like themselves. So it does not act. It points, and a person decides.
What happens when rules are broken
Depending on severity: content removal, a room cooldown, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban. Bans can be appealed once from the account status screen, and appeals are read by a person.
