SMS Policy

Noir does not send marketing text messages

We never send promotional, advertising, or marketing SMS. Noir’s SMS program is strictly transactional: messages are sent only in response to an action you took in the app.

Why you would receive a message from us

Today, Noir sends exactly one kind of message: a one-time phone verification code. You enter your phone number in the Noir app and tap "Send code," and we send a 6-digit code to confirm the number is yours. That is the entire program.

To be precise about what we do not send by SMS:

• Password reset is by email, not SMS.
• There is no SMS login. Signing in to Noir uses your email and password.
• No marketing, promotional, or advertising messages, ever.

Planned, not currently active. If we later add account-security messages — for example a sign-in verification code or a security alert — they will be one-time codes or notices only, sent in direct response to an action you took, and governed by this policy. None of these are in use today, and this page will be updated before any of them are.

How you consent

Consent is collected inside the Noir app at the moment you enter your phone number and tap "Send code." That action is the request. We do not obtain phone numbers from third parties, purchase lists, or add anyone to messaging without that in-app action.

Message frequency

Only when you initiate it. There is no recurring or scheduled messaging. A typical member receives one message when verifying their number, plus any code they request again themselves.

Opting out

Reply STOP to any message to opt out. You will receive one confirmation, and no further messages.

Opting out means we cannot send verification codes, so phone verification will be unavailable until you opt back in.

Reply START to opt back in, or re-request a code in the app.

Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your phone number is private

Your phone number is never shown on your profile and is never visible to other members. It is used for verification and account security only. Verification codes are delivered by Twilio, our SMS provider.

If your account is banned for a serious violation, we retain a one-way cryptographic hash of your verified phone number to prevent the banned account from returning under a new signup. That hash cannot be reversed into your number and is never used to contact you. See our Privacy Policy.
